Good morning! I’m not sure what the weather is like where you are, but here…we had rain for the past few days. We planned to get up early and take some shots for my weekly Creative Edit shoot on Monday but the weather network was calling for April Showers. When life gives you lemons…you make lemonade I suppose! We decided to just go for it and see what we could capture. We were lucky as it wasn’t pouring rain…just a light sprinkle. On a positive note, rain can actually be a good thing for three reasons…why you ask? Well first, rain clouds give you even lighting. No harsh sun equals easier editing. Second, people don’t usually walk around in the rain, therefore you’re likely to have the whole place to yourself. As you’ll see in the behind the scenes video below...the downtown core is completely empty which left us with full rein of the streets. Finally, rain means wet pavement and puddles, which reflects light and creates a magical effect. Have you ever noticed that film makers often wet the pavement before they start shooting? Dry pavement is boring, wet pavement is exciting! For this edit I decided to keep it simple by using my workflow presets and of course my chic brushes. When it’s raining it’s important to go with the mood rather than against it. I layered a few Workflow Presets from The Complete Collection to achieve this simple edit. I used my “Chic” Color Preset, “Cloudy” Lighting Preset and the “Strong” Finish Preset to achieve the look. Finally I used some of my skin brushes to soften my complexion. This week, it was April showers…let’s hope that next week we will have May flowers! (you knew that one was coming lol) Don’t forget to check out the video below…
